Upper Galilee and the Golan Hotels

Upper Galilee and the Golan Hotel Reviews

The Upper Galilee and the Golan's crisp, appetite-whetting air is an exquisite backdrop for some excellent restaurants. Fresh grilled Dan River trout, Middle Eastern fare prepared by Druze villagers, or home-style Jewish cooking in Tzfat are all regional fare. Excellent local wines enhance any meal: try the Mt. Hermon red, Gamla Cabernet Sauvignon, and Yarden Cabernet Blanc and Merlot. In a few places (such as Tzfat), it can be hard to find a restaurant open on Shabbat (sundown Friday until sundown Saturday).

There are few grand hotels here, but the ample selection of guesthouses and inns ranges from ranch-style to home-style. As the tourist industry has developed, many kibbutzim and moshavim have added hotels (or guest wings attached to homes); some also arrange tours, from rafting to Jeep excursions. Rooms in kibbutz guesthouses can be reserved directly or through the Kibbutz Hotels chain, a central reservation service based in Tel Aviv, although not all the kibbutzim are represented.
