Getting Here and Around
Amman has two airports but all international flights arrive and depart from Queen Alia International Airport. American visitors are required to buy a visa (JD10, cash only; currency conversion is available next to the visa counter) upon entry. Airport taxis wait outside the terminal; all fares are fixed, with prices depending on your destination but generally about JD20-22. Airport Express buses stop outside the arrival halls, and departing hourly during the day to Tabarbour bus station. The fare is JD3 and travel time is about 45 minutes if there's not much traffic. You can explore downtown Amman—the historical center of the city—on foot, but taxis are best if you're going farther.
