This little-known haunt is the first medina riad in 50 years to be built from scratch, in this case on the site of an old parking lot at the Mellah's edge. An odd shape lends character, and the salmon-pink finish is relieved by finely wrought hand-painted ceilings and funky sea-grass chairs from nearby Essaouira. Friendly Kiwi hostess Amanda Harford adds to the Zen-like calm of the place.
