The Peech Review
The smart traveler stays here for the affordable rates; uncluttered, but comfortable interiors; and quality restaurant. Owner James Peech has something of a cult following as a result of his engaging London-advertising-boss-turned-hotelier personality with Cape Town-based folk from the film, TV, and advertising industries who make this their work-week home. You're likely to bump into an agency boss or TV executive at breakfast. Restaurant and meeting rooms are in the main house, with other suites in the garden. Those who care about their eco footprint will appreciate solar water heating, gray-water reticulation, and other green practices. The Peech is just a stone's throw from Melrose Arch and is adjacent to major Planet Fitness health club, which is available to guests for R100 per visit. The on-site bistro (with champagne bar) is open daily, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are monthly wine events and a seasonally changing menu.
