Elegant furnishings and impeccable service complement a tasty, small menu in this upmarket establishment. Though it's based at the Westcliff Hotel, the majority of diners are not actually hotel guests—testimony to how good it is. Try the crocodile carpaccio for starters, followed by grilled kudu loin or sesame-encrusted salmon for your main dish, and finish off with a warm malva pudding, a traditional South African spongy apricot dessert. The restaurant has a superb view of the Johannesburg Zoo and the city, and it's particularly nice in summer (when making reservations, ask to sit outside on the veranda). Before dinner, indulge in a cocktail or two at the Polo Lounge just below the restaurant. Dozens of cocktails and delicious, spicy tapas are on offer here, all with the best view in Johannesburg in front of you; it's a particularly nice lunch venue.
