Excelsior Farm Review
Once over the Piekenaarskloof Pass, you'll head toward the small town of Piketberg and enter the Swartland, the breadbasket of the Western Cape. On your left are the Groot Winterhoek Mountains and a road leading to the small town of Porterville. On your right is the village of Piketberg, where you can turn off for Excelsior Farm, a small farm on top of the Piketberg Mountains. It offers day and overnight horseback rides (R300 for two hours, R500 for a full day with picnic lunch, overnight R1,000 for two days' ride and an overnight stay) through the orchards and fynbos-clad mountains, and two simple, inexpensive, self-catering cottages.
