Evita se Perron Review

One of Darling's main attractions is Evita se Perron, the theater and restaurant started by satirist and drag-artist Pieter-Dirk Uys. The theater is on the platform of the Darling station (perron is the Afrikaans word for "railway platform"). Pieter-Dirk Uys has made his alter ego, Evita Bezuidenhout, a household name in South Africa. Performances cost R100 and take place Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday afternoon. Come early to enjoy a buffet meal in the restaurant. In the same complex, Evita's A en C (get the pun on the name of the ruling party, the ANC?) is the gallery of an arts-and-crafts collective and skills-development center. Here you can see and buy works from West Coast artists. It's open daily 10-4.
