Arriving at this gorgeous old Dutch farmhouse, a staff member greets you outside the door, suggesting a pre-dinner drink on the rose-trellised terrace. This gracious moment is the perfect introduction to your evening at one of South Africa's top ranked restaurants. A dining room of exposed yellowwood beams, plush chairs, photos of the estate owner and company, and a scarlet and cream color scheme create a warm and elegant atmosphere with a masculine no-nonsense element. A four or six course tasting menu keeps things deceptively simple with complex flavors of dishes like the sublime ajo blanco (white gazpacho) soup with white peach, champagne jelly, and fresh honeycomb as well as the roasted baby chicken with curried mango and coriander. Service is exquisite all the way. An incredibly knowledgeable sommelier, wine pairing options, and surprisingly reasonably priced wine list complete the picture.
