Modern, sexy Lumiere, in the IFC Mall, bills itself as a "Szechuan Bistro and Bar," and its menu blends Sichuan and South American cuisines. Although main courses are Sichuan in inspiration, like spicy jumbo crab claws, the starters include ceviche. Mongolian mutton slices also get high marks, as does the unique cocktail list at the long bar, which overlooks the harbor. Drinks are classified into "fruity," "creamy," and "sweet-and-sour," and also categorized by strength. Here, too, there's South America to thank, as in a "Caipiritini" -- or, if you prefer, there's always the 1970 Pétrus.
