Barney Cheng
Barney Cheng Review
One of Hong Kong's best-known, local designers, Barney Cheng creates haute-couture designs and prêt-à-porter collections with wit and elegance. When the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., hosted an exhibition titled "The New China Chic," Cheng was invited to display his works alongside those by the likes of Vera Wang and Anna Sui. His more recent pieces have drifted toward simplicity, with sophisticated cuts and exotic prints, such as alligator jackets and skirts. Cheng has made many a bride's dream gown, and his masterfully tailored suits of award-winning Milano wool cost from HK$100,000 to HK$400,000. Consultations are available on weekdays by appointment, but Cheng will open his doors on weekends for special occasions and VIPs.
