Zhongshan (Zhongshan) Review

Zhongshan is 78 km (48 miles) from Guangzhou and 61 km (38 miles) northwest of Macau. Until recently it was a picturesque port, where a cantilever bridge over the Qi River was raised twice a day to allow small freighters to pass. Today the Old Town has been all but obliterated by modern high-rises, and the surrounding farms are now factories. However, there are still a few spots of historical note worth seeing.

Zhongshan was the birthplace of Sun Yat-sen and is home to Probably the most popular spot in town is Sunwen Xilu, a pedestrian mall lined with dozens of restored buildings. At the end of the street is the lovely Zhongshan Park, home of the seven-story Fufeng Pagoda and the world's largest statue of... you guessed it, Sun Yat-sen.
