JIA Shanghai Review
JIA is something else—a new paradigm in Shanghai hospitality. Discreetly housed in a vintage art deco building on Nanjing Xi Lu, JIA's unprepossessing exterior masks it's elegant and styled interior. The 55 rooms and suites are thoughtfully designed and just a touch over the top, making a stay in JIA an experience in itself. Every room is equipped with a kitchenette or kitchen for a pleasant, homey experience. Service is very good for China, though not quite world-class yet. Generally, the experience is smooth and unobtrusive, welcoming guests without destroying the sense of comfortable privacy. Issimo, the in-house restaurant, is genuinely extraordinary, with impeccable interiors and superb food. The service is well trained and the menu small but very well thought out.
