Minshan Fandian Review

The Minshan leapt from four to five stars after a major renovation in 2010, and seems out to prove a point: a locally owned hotel can match and even exceed the quality and value of international chains. Decorations manage to be luxurious but restrained, with relaxing earth tones created out of marble and wood and embellished with touches of glass and copper. The comfortable guest rooms have large beds and look out either on the Fu River or toward downtown, as well as featuring nice touches like espresso machines and separate showers and bathtubs. Staff members generally communicate well in English, and there are good Chinese and French restaurants.
