This nine-story hotel is a good, low-frills bargain. Accommodations vary widely, however -- opt only for one of the 10 renovated deluxe rooms. These rooms have clean marble floors and in-room amenities; all other rooms are rather shabby. Most deluxe rooms have window air-conditioning units, but several are centrally air-conditioned. The bathrooms attached to the deluxe rooms could be cleaner, but are passable. Request an eighth-floor room with a distant view of the Taj Mahal hotel and Gateway of India -- many rooms have no view or outright depressing views. The restaurant serves Indian and Chinese food. Also ask about rooms at Godwin's sister hotel, Garden, next door. Some rooms have tubs, others only showers.
