A stay in this 1862 clifftop home may be the best way to experience what north Kerala is all about—people come for the gorgeous sea views and the local cuisine, cooked by host and TV chef Faiza Moosa. Moosa's cookbook remains popular and the 2004 cooking show still airs often on BBC. Meals are served on the front terrace, overlooking the sea. The house manager can accompany you on excursions in the area, or you can just hang out by the gorgeous brick-tile pool. Rooms are palatial, with high wood-beam ceilings and antique teak and rosewood furnishings. Book a year in advance, as the rooms fill up quickly.
