Grand Park Otaru Review

Overlooking Otaru Marina, 18 floors of a former Hilton chain hotel sit atop the huge WingBay shopping complex, giving easy access to outlet clothes bargains, movie theaters, a hot spring, and even a Ferris wheel. Inside is reliable, familiar franchised service with English-speakers on staff. Western-style rooms in gold, blue, and brown have large twin or double beds, and luckily most overlook the marina out front and not the unattractive railway sidings behind. It's 2 km (1 mi) from the historic district, but a trolley bus stop is just outside. It's a five-minute walk from Otaru Chikko Station, one stop before Otaru city station. The on-site Marina Restaurant is a favorite with local foodies. Early booking and a best-rate guarantee can produce competitive rates, depending on the season.
