A-Bar Review
This tucked-away gem is located one block west of Kiyamachi-dori and three blocks north of nearby Shijo-dori on the second floor of the Reiho building. With its wood-paneling, the one-room izakaya doesn't look like much, but it regularly fills up with a healthy mix of expats and locals. It's a great place to share your stories with fellow travelers as the long communal tables guarantee you a chance to make new friends. Watch out for flying bottle caps, though; the popular manager, Tsue, has a knack for popping open beer bottles with chopsticks (he has been featured on TV for this talent). Cash only, and it opens at 5.
