Kairakuen

Kairakuen Review

This ornate Chinese restaurant is a local favorite, and it's easy to see, smell, and taste why. It serves the best chanpon—Nagasaki's signature dish of Chinese-style noodles, vegetable, and pork-based broth—in town. The reasonable price is an added bonus. Mama-san speaks English if given the chance, and Papa-san sits like Buddha watching over the customers. It's just inside the entrance to Chinatown, on the left. Take the streetcar to Tsuki-machi and walk a couple of blocks south.
