Shiraito-no-taki and Ryugaeshi-no-taki (Shiraito and Ryugaeshi falls) Review

Hiking paths get crowded during the tourist season, but the falls make a good afternoon excursion in the off-season. To get to the trailhead at Mine-no-Chaya, take the bus from Naka-Karuizawa. The ride takes about 25 minutes. From the trailhead it's about a 1½-km (1-mi) hike to Shiraito. The trail then swings southeast, and 3 km (2 mi) farther are the Ryugaeshi Falls. For a longer hike, walk back to town via Mikasa village. It takes about an hour and 15 minutes. Or catch the bus bound for Karuizawa (10 minutes) from the parking lot.
