Tasty, healthful, and authentic dishes from the region are Kikufuji's specialty, from delicious vegetable stews like kenoshiru (vegetable soup) to the freshest seafood. The scallops brought in from the Mutsu Bay coast are superb, so try the hotateno-kaiyakimiso (scallops grilled in the shell). Because excellent dry, cold, local varieties of sake are available, dinner may be preferable here over lunch. It's a short taxi ride from JR Hirosaki Station, or a long walk out along the main northwest-southwest diagonal, near the stream crossing, and not far from the tall, freaky sci-fi building that contains Naka-san department store.
