Hotel New Castle Review

The biggest advantage to this hotel is its location: a block and a half from Hirosaki Castle, and the saddest news is that many rooms are outdated. Ask a room on the seventh or eighth floor; these have been most recently refurbished. As Hirosaki boasts excellent French fare, the New Castle also provides a wonderful brasserie and boulangerie. If you decide to have breakfast here, consider going to the French restaurant instead of the hotel buffet unless Japanese cuisine and a view of Mt. Iwaki are your priorities. Or, even better and cheaper, get some fresh brioche and sandwiches from the bakery and take them with you to Hirosaki Park. It's a 15-minute walk or short taxi ride northwest of the station.
