Villa Santi Review
This 19th-century royal residence in the heart of Luang Prabang was converted to a boutique hotel in 2001 by a local princess's son-in-law, who also built a resort outside town. The old building on Sakkarin Road has been torn down, but the newer wing around the corner still has quiet rooms a short stroll from the Mekong River. Five minutes from town, theVilla Santi resort offers some respite from the "bustle" of the city and features a 20-meter swimming pool. Free shuttle service allows those at the resort to visit the town, and those in town to chill out at the pool. The open-air terrace restaurant serves Lao and international cuisine.
