The Governor's Residence Review

It's a trip back in time at this lovely 1920s colonial-style mansion on a quiet backstreet in the Embassy Quarter. The Governor's Residence is a true respite from the grit and grime of downtown Yangon, with free, fast Wi-Fi throughout the hotel to boot. Rooms are spacious and well appointed but pleasantly far from opulent, with simple teak bed frames and plush mattresses. Guests have complete control of the in-room central a/c, which goes very low—necessary during Burma's sweltering summers. Service is impeccable. Breakfast on the veranda overlooking the pool and gardens is a delicious, serene way to kick off a long day of sightseeing.
