Wat Mahathat Worawihan

Wat Mahathat Worawihan Review

The 800-year-old Khmer-influenced Wat Mahathat Worawihan, on the western side of the Phetchaburi River, is a royal temple. Besides the magnificent architecture, an interesting feature of this wat is a subtle political joke. Look around the base of the Buddha statue outside the main temple. A ring of monkeylike Atlases supports the large Buddha image, but one of the monkeys is not like the others. See if you can find him!
