When in Bangkok, the king resides here, an area that takes up an entire block across from Dusit Park. Although the palace is closed to the public, the outside walls are a lovely sight, especially when lighted up to celebrate the king's birthday on December 5. The extensive grounds are also home to a herd of royal white elephants, but it's difficult to arrange to see them.
