By Bus

The Central Bus Station, open daily 6 AM-9:30 PM, is near the city center. From here Premier Stateliner operates buses throughout South Australia, and Firefly Express and Greyhound Australia run interstate and some local services.

Bus Travel Within Adelaide

Fares on the public transportation network are based on morning and afternoon peak and off-peak travel. A single-trip peak ticket is A$3.80, off-peak A$2.30. Tickets are available from most railway stations, newsstands, post offices, and the Adelaide Metro Info Centre. If you plan to travel frequently you can economize with a multitrip ticket (A$25.10), which allows 10 rides throughout the three bus zones. Off-peak multitrip tickets are A$13.80. Another economical way to travel is with the day-trip ticket, which allows unlimited bus, train, and tram travel throughout Adelaide and most of its surroundings from first until last service. It costs A$7.20.

No-cost Adelaide FREE buses make about 30 downtown stops. The BeeLine Bus runs around King William Street and North Terrace Monday-Thursday 7:40 AM-6:10 PM, Friday 7:40 AM-9:20 PM, Saturday 8:20 AM-5:35 PM, and Sunday 10 AM-5:30 PM. The City Loop Bus runs every 15 minutes in two central city directions, Monday-Thursday 8 AM-6:15 PM, Friday 8 AM-9:15 PM, Saturday 8:15 AM-5:45 PM, and Sunday 10 AM-5:15 PM. The free Adelaide Connector, which links North Adelaide and the city center, runs Monday-Thursday 8 AM-6 PM, Friday 8 AM-9:30 PM, and weekends 10 AM-5 PM. Buses have ramp access for wheelchairs and baby carriages, and they stop at most major attractions.

Wandering Star is a late-night bus service that operates on Friday and Saturday. From 12:30 AM to 5 AM you can travel from the city to your door (or as near as possible) in 11 suburban zones for A$6.

The Adelaide metropolitan network also serves the Adelaide Hills, but you need to catch two or more buses to more remote attractions, such as Bridgewater Mill.
