With a huge natural swimming hole at its back door, this homestead resort in the West MacDonnell Ranges doesn't need a conventional pool -- but it has both. You can camp or splurge on a motel room. There's a restaurant, plus entertainment five times weekly from March through November. Take a helicopter ride for a fantastic view of the range, or simply enjoy a glass of wine as you watch the sun sink over the gorge. This outpost is the only place to refuel your vehicle for 100 km (62 mi).
