Wild, black-footed rock wallabies are fed nightly in this resort at the base of the MacDonnell Ranges, a few hundred yards south of the break in the ranges known as Heavitree Gap. All rooms here are functional rather than stylish, with lodge and kitchenette rooms and four-bed dorm accommodations offering cooking facilities. There are 90 powered campsites and 3 acres of unpowered campsites available for travelers with caravans. Nightly entertainment from April to September, including a bush balladeer and a hands-on reptile show, contribute to the theme-park atmosphere. A free shuttle runs from the resort to Alice Springs, which is five minutes away.
