  Smile for Your Photo at the End

  My spouse and I took a trip to Kuranda village in late August 2012, traveling there (one-way) on the Kuranda Scenic Railway (KSR), with our return one-way trip on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. After visiting Kuranda village for approximately two hours, our Skyrail gondola departed at 12:45 pm from the Kuranda Terminal en route to the Cavonica Terminal.
  
  The Skyrail journey took approximately 1 hour: 15 minutes, including two stops at Barron Falls and Red Peak Rainforest Walk. At each stop, we spent approximately 10 minutes exploring. We had our own gondola on Skyrail, which was good for picture taking, and we could move around as we wished, but we think that the car had the capacity to hold 4 people (at least) at the most crowded times. The ride over the treetops and foliage was only mildly interesting; we did not feel like we saw any plants that were particularly unique to the area (nothing that we could not see at home).
  
  When we arrived at the Cavonica Terminal at the end of the ride, they took a souvenir photo of us in our Skyrail gondola, which we purchased as a keepsake for about $15 per photograph. When we arrived at Cavonica, we followed the signs to Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, which is located right next to the station. If you do not choose to go to Tjapukai, at this point, you can board your shuttle bus back to the city. There were no taxis waiting when we arrived, although you can probably telephone for a pick-up (there were public pay phones available). There is a city bus that runs out to Cavonica/Tjapukai, but it does not seem to operate on weekends.

  Skyrail Rainforest Cableway Review

  The Skyrail is a spectacular highlight to any trip to the Cairns/Port Douglas area. The trip guide is particularly helpful in assisting travelers, including my 10 and 13 year olds, in identifying butterflies, trees, plants and other wildlife. The view of the Coral Sea and the mountains is magnificent. It was a gentle but exhilarating ride!
