Wildlife Habitat

Wildlife Habitat Review

Don't miss an outing to Wildlife Habitat—previously the Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary—on the road to Port Douglas from the highway. You'll have many creature encounters around Australia but the Breakfast with the Birds experience here—with avian residents so tame they'll perch on your shoulders as you dine (and may steal your steak if you're distracted)—is delightful. The park houses more than 180 species of tropical native wildlife, including cassowaries, parrots, wetland waders, koalas, kangaroos, and crocodiles in eight acres of world-class "immersion" wetland, rain-forest and grassland environs. The "tropical" buffet breakfast, served daily 8-10:30, is A$45 including sanctuary admission and a well-worth-it guided tour. You can also Lunch with the Lorikeets for A$45, noon-2 daily, tag along on one of the sanctuary's free expert-guided tours (or book a VIP behind-scenes version), and attend croc, snake, and koala shows.
