Getting Here and Around

The Hinterland's main areas—Tamborine Mountain, Lamington National Park, and Springbrook—can be reached from the Pacific Highway or via Beaudesert from Brisbane, and are a 30- to 40-minute drive inland from the Gold Coast. To reach Tamborine, around 80 km (50 mi) south of Brisbane and 36 km (24 mi) from Southport, take Exit 57 off the Pacific Motorway to the Oxenford-Tamborine Road; or take Exit 71 off the Pacific Motorway, the Nerang-Beaudesert Road, to Canungra. From Canungra, follow the signs to Tamborine, 4 km (2½ mi) along Tamborine Mountain Road. The Gold Coast Hinterland is ideal for touring by car: rent a vehicle, arm yourself with local maps, fill the tank, and take to the hills.
