Botanic Gardens

Botanic Gardens Review

These magnificent formal gardens include an international rose garden, giant water lilies, an avenue of Moreton Bay fig trees, acres of green lawns, and duck ponds. The Bicentennial Conservatory—the largest single-span glass house in the southern hemisphere—provides an environment for lowland rain-forest species such as the cassowary palm and torch ginger. Daily free guided tours leave from the Schomburgk Pavilion at 10:30. On weekends there's often a wedding ceremony taking place somewhere on the grounds. In summer the Moonlight Cinema series screens new, classic, and cult films inside the garden at sunset; bring a picnic blanket and a bottle of wine. Tickets sell fast, so plan ahead.
