There's an unexpected sense of space and lots of light in this compact boutique hotel half a block from Chinatown. Accommodations range from standard rooms to two-bedroom, split-level apartments with full kitchens; all have LCD televisions and free wifi. The rooms are furnished in relaxing shades of sage and sand with dots of red but gradual redecorating is planned over the coming year. The in-house Fish Dish Cafe ($$) is open for all meals, and offers seafood fresh from the markets as well as meat fare. Try the home-made potato cakes.
