Getting Here and Around
Phillip Island is 124 km (78 mi) southeast of Melbourne or a 90-minute drive. To reach the island, take the Princes Freeway (M1) southeast to the South Gippsland Highway (M420), and follow this to the Bass Highway (A420). V/Line runs a combination train and bus service from Southern Cross Station to Cowes (with change at Dandenong railway station), a journey of three and a half hours. If you're on the Mornington Peninsula, there's a regular daily passenger ferry service from Stony Point to Cowes.
