City Mall
City Mall Review
At this writing, it is hoped that the first part of the City Mall, near the Bridge of Remembrance, may reopen in a limited capacity in early 2012. This area was once the key shopping area in the CBD, but was badly damaged in the quakes. Ballantynes, on the corner of Cashel and Colombo streets, is one of the country's better-known department stores and is also planning to reopen soon. They have a somewhat smaller store in Timaru, if you're heading south.
