Christchurch and Canterbury Shopping

Victoria Street Review

Victoria Street was one of the first inner city spots to reopen. Cutting diagonally across the city center's grid pattern out from Bealey Avenue, it has a mix of clothing and small, eclectic designer shops interspersed with cafés. Frogmore is a fabulous little store filled with jewellery, glass, fabrics and lace; Redcurrent is a more contemporary take on the same selection. Jane Daniels, Trelise Cooper, Workshop, Dfusion, and Lynn Woods have contemporary urban fashion; Dfusion also has a range for men as well. Kimberleys has a clothing outlet store down a side lane. Vic's is the place for a coffee after you've shopped and the Milk Bar is a modern take on an old institution, also with convenient lunches and good coffee. There are broken buildings and empty spaces still but as the rebuild begins this will change—it's shopping Christchurch style!
