The Cornershop Bistro

The Cornershop Bistro Review

Just a block back from Sumner Beach this urban-style establishment has drummed up an extremely loyal clientele. By day it's a busy café; at night it morphs in to something a little more serious. Brunch may include French toast, buttered mushrooms, Eggs bene, or a breakfast grill. Dinner gets exciting with tasty fare such as pork-and-pistachio terrine and a blue-cheese soufflé, aged beef with truffle-mashed potatoes, or braised lamb shoulder with a chickpea and tomato stew. This place is a favorite with locals and Sunday drivers from the city so it can be busy. Book ahead if you're intent on eating here. They reopened very quickly after the earthquakes but at the time of writing are still running temporary hours. Check the website.
