If it's a more basic meal you're after, this is a the spot to get a quintessential Kiwi-style beachside lunch of kumara chips, Coromandel mussels, fresh fish or burgers of many kinds, including gluten free and vegetarian. You could even wash it down with a bottle of Lemon & Paeroa (L&P—the iconic Kiwiana soda made not too far from Coromandel). The chips are crisp (they're fried in rice bran oil). Come early to get your "takeaways"; they close at 8 pm.
