Morton Estate Wines Review

Just south of Katikati on Highway 2, you'll spot the Cape Dutch design of the Morton Estate winery building. Winemaker Evan Ward has won a stack of awards over the years. He also holds some bottles back until he thinks they're at their drinking best, so you'll likely find earlier vintages than at most wineries. The Black Label Chardonnay is particularly good as is the sparkling wine. The Cellar Door is open for tatsings daily from 9:30 to 5. A restaurant at the winery is available only for private functions.
