Rotorua Lakeside Review

This snazzy spot has the handiest position of any of the large downtown hotels—it overlooks the lake and is a two-minute walk from the restaurants and shops. Guest rooms have sleek furnishings and are decently sized, though you should specify a lake view when booking. At the Atlas Restaurant ($$$-$$$$), the venison denver leg, char-grilled and coated with tapenade with red wine poached pear, red chard and kumara mash may take your fancy.
