Bay Motel Review

Above town, this place has comfortable rooms, each with a deck. The view takes in Halfmoon Bay so you can observe the comings and goings of the wharf and pub, and the antics of the kakas from this "busybody" perch. For an extra 10 bucks choose the "honeymoon suite," the two-person Jacuzzi bath is nice after a day tramping. The motel is the winner of the 2011 AA Supreme Host of the Year Award.

    Enjoyed the Bay Motel

We spent three nights at the Bay Motel. We were met at the ferry terminal by the owner, who drove us up the hill to the motel. We'd booked their Honeymoon Suite and our room was comfy and well equipped. It was clean, spacious and came with the usual NZ motel items such as fridge, microwave and kettle. As an added bonus our unit had a spa tub in the bathroom and we had a nice view of Halfmoon Bay from the balcony.
