Rotorua Airport, with the olfactorily evocative code ROT, is about 10 km (6 mi) from the city center. Taxi fare to the city is approximately $25. You could also arrange for a ride ($12) with Super Shuttle; call ahead for a reservation.

Air New Zealand has daily flights that link Rotorua with Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington.

The small Hawke's Bay Airport (NPE) is 5 km (3 mi) north of Napier. Shuttle taxis run into town.

Air New Zealand has several flights daily between Napier and Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. The flights from Napier to Auckland or Wellington take about an hour; the trip to Christchurch lasts roughly two hours.

The small, easily navigable Gisborne Airport (GIS) is about 5 km (3 mi) from town. You can catch a taxi to the city center for $18.

Air New Zealand Link flies daily to Gisborne from Auckland and Wellington. Flights on these routes last about an hour.
