Marlborough Sounds Wildlife Recovery & Arts Centre

Marlborough Sounds Wildlife Recovery & Arts Centre Review

Take the short boat ride out to Lochmara Lodge to explore this delightful enclave on the shore of Lochmara Bay. Follow the bush walks to see native gecko, the kakariki (a native parrot) protection program, some happy snuffling kunekune pigs (first brought to New Zealand by Captain Cook). In summer the kids can swim off the jetty, play in kayaks and race down the flying fox. There's a pampering spa room and bathhouse above the beach and several galleries of locally produced art; there are often artists-in-residence working as well. There's also good family accommodation and a bar and restaurant if you plan to stay longer.
