Forrester Court Review

The only true five-star accommodation on Norfolk Island, this small, lovely cottage compound sits high on the cliffs above Cascade Bay, on the northeast end of the island, only a few minutes' drive from Burnt Pine. The 12-acre property's name is that of couple John Forrester and wife Joyce Court, who bought the property in 1983; John was a fifth-generation descendant of a convict transported here in 1791. Today Forrester Court is run by John's son Brad and his wife Ariane, who oversee the one-bedroom Gazebo and Strathlands cottages and the two-bedroom Clifftop Cottage. Beautifully positioned, each cottage has expansive terraces to take in the stunning ocean views and to watch the weekly cargo boat unload its wares. Cottages have pitched ceilings, full kitchens, two bathrooms, and spacious living areas with TV, DVD, and Wi-Fi. Rates include use of a car, a cell phone, and breakfast provisions. Private three-course dinners on the terrace, prepared by the cottages' chef, Rachel, can be arranged. The onsite library has a wonderful rare collection of bound National Geographic magazines and children's books dating back 70 years. Massage and yoga can be arranged, and there's a real grass tennis court.
