A small, ultra-modern complex with just 29 bungalows and apartments, Mangoes Resort excels when it comes to location—it's set on Erakor lagoon and is a 20-minute walk from Port Vila. Guests can choose from garden- or lagoon-view villas, villas with private plunge pools, or apartments with plunge pools and full kitchens. There are also three common pools. Accommodations exude a cool ambience with white walls and tile floors set off by dark-timber furniture and shutters, rattan headboards, and red throws and cushions. The hip style blends in beautifully with the tropical setting. The 60-seat restaurant, which welcomes children, serves a Pacific fusion menu, and dinner may feature a banana leaf-wrapped parcel of poulet fish (a local snapper) with ginger, coconut milk, and herbs, while the Mangoes special salad of chicken, paw paw (a papaya) with nuts, and lime zest is a staple.
