$-$$$, Chub Cay
Fodor's Review:
This is one of the best sportfishing locations anywhere, with the Tongue of the Ocean at its doorstep and the Great Bahama Bank bending around to the Joulters Cays. The luxury marina reopened in June 2006, along with renovated rooms in the Harbour House hotel. The hotel restaurant serves three meals a day, with wonderful fresh seafood nightly. 110 slips are available for boaters, and the 22,000-square-foot, three-level clubhouse, restaurant, bar, and pool complex, which opened in March 2007, is available for those looking to have a good time. Fourteen two- to five-bedroom villas are going up; at press time Chub Cay was not certain when these would open, but it could be as early as fall 2007. The five-year plan for the resort includes 65 villa homes, 55 marina town houses, three restaurants, bars, and a shopping village. A 5,000-foot paved airstrip is open for private and charter aircraft. This will be one of the best high-end marinas and luxury resorts in the Bahamas and the Caribbean when it is complete.
