$$$-$$$$, Harbour Island
Fodor's Review:
What was once a private seaside mansion is now an enchanting inn perched on a bluff above Harbour Island's fabled beach. Most rooms face the sea; the rest overlook the gardens. All are individually decorated with wicker, original island artwork, lovely bed linens, and coordinating draperies. The newer hilltop villa has larger, more uniform rooms with colorful patchwork quilts and bookshelves with an array of titles. Stairs lead down to the freshwater pool near the beach. Be sure to make reservations early to check out the club's inventive menu, which focuses on fresh, local ingredients. A jacket is required at dinner in season.
