Hermitage
Hermitage Review
The Hermitage estate ruins are testaments to the cotton plantation days. The small settlement was built by the Ferguson family from the Carolinas who settled here after the American Revolutionary War. Visitors can see the foundations of the main house and tombs that date back to the 1700s. The tombs hold George Butler (1759-1822), Henderson Ferguson (1772-1825), and Constance McDonald (1755-1759). A grave is believed to be that of an unnamed slave.
