Sweetfield Manor Review

George and Ann Clarke transformed a decrepit manse (circa 1900) perched on a ridge about a mile from Bridgetown—the former residence of the Dutch ambassador to Barbados—into the island's most delightful bed-and-breakfast inn. The main living and dining rooms, which are all available to guests, along with the six guest rooms and carriage-house suite are individually furnished with antiques and art—much of the artwork by Ann Clarke. She also prepares a fabulous gourmet breakfast each morning—fresh-squeezed juices, tasty egg dishes, and home-baked treats—served either in the large formal dining room, on the sunporch, or under a leafy mahogany tree in the garden. Tropical trees and plants surround a small, natural-rock swimming pool tucked into the broad lawn.
