There's no sales tax in the Bahamas. However, there's a $15 per-person departure tax (travelers under age four aren't charged this fee). The departure tax from Turks and Caicos is $35 for persons older than age two. Tax on your hotel room is 6%-12%, depending on the island visited; in some resorts, a small service charge of up to 5% may be added to cover housekeeping and bellman service. U.S. visitors can take home $800 worth of duty-free goods. The next $1,000 is taxed at 10%.
